Who doesn’t love vacations? Hell, I do! After all, it’s the time when we take a break from our monotonous work routine.  However, during vacations, most people usually ruin their hard earned gains. Their chiseled six packs turn into  jiggle thick packs. No doubt, vacations are meant to be enjoyed but surely not at the cost of your hard earned gains! During a vacation, you can either take your fitness level to new level or can mess it up terribly.  Hence, choose wisely and follow these tips in order to enjoy a guilt free vacation.

1) Walking Is The Way To Go

To be precise, walking during a vacation can be a great cardio workout. Don’t’ worry, walking doesn’t mean muscle loss. During vacations, we often have an ample amount of leisure time which we spend in shopping or sightseeing.  Always try to walk as much as possible and choose public transport over private taxis. Walking will help you burn calories which you tend to ingest through cheat meals during vacations.

2) Choose A Hotel That Offers Gym Facilities

In order to cover the strength part, always look for a hotel that has a gym within the premises. A 45 minute, quality strength training session, can give you great EPOC (excess post exercise oxygen consumption) that will keep you in the fat burning zone for more than 24 hours. However, in case there is no gym, then one can still workout using your own body weight (calisthenics). Push-ups and free squats are two great exercises that work on your upper and lower body respectively. Don’t look for excuses here!

3) Plan Your Cheat Meals

Since vacations are meant to be enjoyed, we eat whatever we like. The problem starts when we eat much more than we ought to. For instance, consuming just a slice of pizza is still a better choice than an entire large pizza. In fact, always try to avoid the sugary and the maida stuff. However, if you want to enjoy the cheat meal, always eat either before or after a long walk or an intense resistance training session. This will minimize the evil effect of the high glycemic load that you will put on in the form your cheat meals.

Remember, vacations are meant to refresh your body and mind and losing your gains will surely negate those effects. Therefore, do things that do not harm your body and you can get back to your routine within a couple of days.
